Zhdanov, Victor M. (The D. I. Ivanovsky Institute of Virology, Moscow, USSR), Nonna B. Azadova, and Leonid V. Uryvayev. Topography and dynamics of synthesis of structural proteins of Newcastle disease virus. J. Bacteriol. 91:1902-1906. 1966.-Newcastle disease virus S and V antigens are synthesized in the cytoplasm, as revealed by the immunofluorescence method. In some experiments, S antigen was found also in the nucleoli. Actinomycin D moderately decreased the titer of infectious virus and V antigen and accelerated the time of appearance of mature virus. Proflavine sharply decreased the synthesis of both antigens and the release of mature virus.

Detection of specific antigens of Newcastle disease virus using an absorbed Western blotting method

Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is an economically important poultry pathogen with a worldwide distribution that may infect a wide range of domestic and wild avian species. The identification of different pathotypes of NDVs plays an important role in the diagnosis and development of vaccines to control and eradicate NDV infections. In our previous study, we showed that mono-specific antibodies ca...

Immunogenicity of the Multi-Epitopic Recombinant Glycoproteins of Newcastle Disease Virus: Implications for the Serodiagnosis Applications

Background: Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is a dangerous viral disease, infecting a broad range of birds, and has a fatal effect on the poultry industries. The attachment and consequently fusion of the virus to the host cell membrane is directed by the two superficial glycoproteins, the hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) and the fusion (F) which is considered as the important tar...

Cloning & Expression of F Protein Gene (HR1 region) of Newcastle Disease Virus NR43 Isolate from Iran in E.coli

Background and Aims: NDV (Newcastle Disease Virus) is one of the viruses that cause disease in avian with severe economic losses in the poultry industry in many countries. Fusion protein (F) which plays a major role in the virus pathogenicity contains several regions that have a role in the fusion process. Mutation in the sequence of HR1 & HR2 regions of this protein prevents fusion of the viru...

Molecular detection of infectious bronchitis and Newcastle disease viruses in broiler chickens with respiratory signs using Duplex RT-PCR

Infectious bronchitis (IB) and Newcastle disease (ND) are highly contagious and the most economically important diseases of the poultry affecting respiratory tract and causing economic losses in poultry industry throughout the world. In the present study, the simultaneous detection and differentiation of causative agents of these diseases were investigated using duplex-RT-PCR. RNA was extracted...

Differentiation of Virulent and Non-Virulent Newcastle Disease Virus Isolates Using RT-PCR

Newcastle disease is one of the main concerns of poultry farmers. Detection of virulent strains of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) has a great impact on control measures against the disease. In this study RT-PCR was optimized in high sensitivity in order to differentiate the virulent from non-virulent NDV isolates directly in tissue homogenates. The vaccinal NDV strain and known field isolates we...
